Cosplay Emergency Kit Checklist

A good emergency kit is small enough to carry all day and specific enough to fix the problems that actually happen: loose seams, slipping wigs, makeup wear, shoe pain, prop cracks, and dead phone batteries.

Quick Answer

Pack a mini repair kit, wig security items, makeup touch-ups, pain-prevention supplies, prop-safe adhesives, hydration, snacks, and a battery pack. Keep the full repair box at your hotel or car, but carry a compact version on the show floor.

The Carry-All-Day Kit

Costume Fixes

  • Safety pins in two sizes
  • Needle, black thread, and white thread
  • Fashion tape
  • Mini scissors or thread snips if venue rules allow

Wig Control

  • Extra bobby pins
  • Small comb
  • Travel hairspray
  • Backup wig cap

Makeup Touch-Up

  • Pressed powder
  • Lip product
  • Cotton swabs
  • Oil blotting sheets

Comfort

  • Blister pads
  • Bandages
  • Electrolytes or water bottle
  • Snack that will not melt

What To Leave Off the Show Floor

Do not carry every crafting tool you own. Large glue bottles, heat tools, heavy paint, spare shoes, and bulky prop repair gear belong in a hotel room, car, or cosplay repair station. Your floor kit should solve the first 15 minutes of a problem, not rebuild the costume.

Prop and Armor Fixes

  • Carry tape that matches the inside color of the costume or prop.
  • Use glue only when it is venue-safe and fully capped.
  • Bring spare magnets or elastic if the build depends on them.
  • Photograph the inside of complex pieces before leaving home.

Best Bag Setup

Use one pouch for costume repairs, one pouch for makeup, and one pouch for comfort items. Label them before the event. If a friend is carrying your bag during photos, they should be able to find the right pouch without asking.
